It is advisable to remove one panel at a time in order to minimize the risk of accidents. Measure the different parts of the door including their width, height, headroom and back room. Normally there is an allowance of between 10” and 12”. When working on the back room, it is advisable to have the door height recorded with an additional 18” leeway. Attach some temporary stops on both sides of the opening so that they are flush with reference to the inside edge of the jamb. Lay out the bottom piece using sawhorses and add weather stripping. Drill in the hinges and lift the handles to the places that have been allocated.
