What do safety beams do?
The beams project towards the inner part of the garage door opening and as the two sensors are placed one opposite the other at the two sides of the door, the beams must see each other. If they're obstructed, the reverse mechanism is activated. To ensure maximum safety, they must be installed maximum 6 inches above the floor.
What is sideroom?
Sideroom is the distance between the door's opening and the side wall. It must be approximately around 3'' to ¾'' on each side but it would depend on the garage door spring system as well according to our experts. It's important to have enough space, especially if you have an overhead door since vertical tracks are also placed there.
